Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within the city.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
